Please do not come with the date already fixed in your mind. This must be negotiated with the Parish Priest and time given for preparation. Infants should be brought for Baptism as soon as possible after their birth (within the first few weeks - Canon 867.1).
The diocese of Westminster suggests that six months’ notice should be given to the parish. Formalities can sometimes be lengthy, but more important is the preparation for the Sacrament itself.
